Physical Characteristics
  • Medium, strong build
  • Coat: Rough, wiry hair with soft undercoat comes in salt-and-pepper or black
  • Profuse eyebrows, whiskers and beard
  • Medium-sized, oval eyes are set forward
  • Strong muzzle ends bluntly with a black nose
  • Height: 17.5-19.5 inches
  • Weight: 32-34 pounds
  • Average lifespan: 12-14 years

  • Alert, dependable, brave, smart, affectionate, energetic, protective, willful
  • Interaction with people: Good with mature children
  • Training: Needs early socializing to prevent overprotective nature. Learns quickly but needs consistent, firm training
