Doctors warn against exotic pets for small children

In a report published in the medical journal "Pediatrics," some of the nation's leading pediatricians warn that small children should not keep exotic animals as pets because of risks for disease. The list of exotic pets included hedgehogs, hamsters, baby chicks, lizards and turtles, among others. Young children -- under 5 -- are most at risk because of their developing immune systems.
