When your pet is sick or injured, who you gonna call?  That’s right, the one person you trust the most with the health and well-being of your beloved family member – your vet.    Veterinarians are compassionate, caring and hard-working people who spend years training to ensure they can provide the best medical care possible for our four-legged friends.

To honor these exceptional professionals for their dedication to helping animals and strengthening the bonds we have with our pets, the Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) is conducting a national essay contest in which pet owners can nominate their veterinarians for the position of “top dog” in the third annual Thank Your Vet for a Healthy Pet competition.

The contest runs until August 31, 2009 at which time one national winner and five regional winners will be selected by a panel of judges.  Winners will be contacted by November 1, 2009, and will be honored before their peers at the January 2010 North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Florida.  Winners will also be featured in the January 2010 issues of Veterinary Practice News, DOG FANCY and CAT FANCY magazines, all published by BowTie, Inc.   In addition to these publications, the contest is also co-sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition

For contest rules or to nominate your veterinarian online, visit www.ThankYourVet.org.   To receive a printed copy of the rules, call 800-243-2345.

So, paws and claws up to Morris Animal Foundation for further recognizing our veterinarians and all they do for people and their pets!
