Q. Are swollen nipples a sign that my dog is in heat, or could she be pregnant?
A. The nipple itself may swell when a dog is in heat (in season). However, if it appears that the dog is producing milk, it can be a sign of either false pregnancy or a true pregnancy. If you think your dog may be pregnant, you should take her to your vet as soon as possible.
