Two animal-rights groups in the Los Angeles area unveiled a campaign to end puppy store sales in the area, with the hope of spreading their message across the country. "Best Friends Animal Society" and "Last Chance for Animals" said they will work with lawmakers to create new ordinances and strengthen existing ones to put an end to so-called "puppy mills." Best Friends defines a puppy mill as any person that breeds dogs for commercial sale. The main goal of the campaign is for people in the L.A. area to adopt dogs from shelters and rescue groups.
