Physical Description
- Consists of the Balinese Division and the Javanese Division
- Svelte, sleek build
- Single, long, silky coat
- Almost identical to the Siamese
- Aristocratic appearance
- Pluming long tail
- Blue eyes
- Coat colors include: seal point, blue point, chocolate point and lilac point
Temperament
- Affectionate, loving
- Soft voice
At Home
- Does best indoors
- Needs sufficient scratching device
- Declawing is not recommended
- Kittens are available after 12-16 weeks
Brief History
- Originated as a mutation of the Siamese cat
- Only difference between Siamese and Balinese is the coat length
- Efforts were taken to promote longhaired Siamese cats in the 1940s
Grooming
- Single coat is easily groomed
- Trim nails regularly
Medical Conditions
- Needs boosters by 12 weeks old
- Annual vet visit for checkups is important
